The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon for each day to have a different and new sun. Happy Birthday Viola!

Kompass is a unique bar and restaurant overlooking the serene environment at Ngong Hills. The desire for a picnic-themed birthday led to settling for this venue. Angelic Touch Events (@angelictouchevents) beautifully put together the set up to suit the purple picnic theme. Purple showcases wealth and sophistication, beams passion with its rich undertone as well as romance and sensitivity. So, how about a purple picnic? Good vibes only! The kind you would need to be echoed as a loved one turned a year older. The ocassion was graced by friends and family who came armed in their adventure spirit.

At Kompass, you are likely to encounter fun-filled activities: A round trip of ziplining @Ksh.1000, Archery @Ksh.1000 for a set of 20 arrows and Cycling @Ksh.500 per 3hours. We decided to conquer our fears and indulged in the Ziplining activity. The thing that is bound to stick with you about ziplining is the thrill and fun that goes hand in hand. Imagine some hundred feet off the ground, harnessing onto a strong cable with the support of a pulley, speeding onto several meters long ziplines. It is not only in the adrenaline rush but also the stunning bird’s eye-view of ground locations. You are travelling from one point to another, capturing everything on the ground with your eyes! Probably, the enjoyment was also in screaming our lungs out and the feeling is so incredible that we cannot quite express it in words.

Nature is life. In recognizing this fact, we planted 23 trees to symbolize Viola’s new year but most importantly, in support of the tree planting crusade launched by the Cabinet Secretary of Environment Mr. Tobiko. This initiative aims at achieving 13-15% forest cover by 2022 so as toΒ  aid in reversing environmental degradation.

Besides the company of amazing people, the ocassion was graced with music by a deejay organized for us by the Kompass administration. We had the chance to shake our legs abit before sampling their sumptuous meal, did the cake cutting and sang some more together! Quite a line up of intimate activities.

It is important to note that to access Ngong Hills, a fee of Ksh.200 is to be paid to the Kenya Forest Service. Thereafter one is free to indulge in whatever activity planned for the day. To get to Kompass, you can use private means. In the event you settle for public transportation, alight at Ngong town and take a motorcycle to the venue. You can opt to have their contacts so that when you need to descend and trekking is not an option you are equally sorted. However, upon request Kompass Restaurant is able to organize transport down the hill.

Sincere grattitude to all who sent their heartwarming messages and prophecies to more life, moreso to the friends who showed up and made this day quite memorable, to Kompass restaurant for their meticulous service and hospitality, to Angelic Touch Events for always being at the top of their game and to the Almighty for another year!
